Books are crucial to a child’s later success. Without a print-rich environment, both in school and at home, a child’s reading achievement flounders. In fact, the ONLY variable that directly correlates with reading scores is the number of books in a child’s home. Through our Book Giveaway, Rolling Readers is working to help each child build their home library.
• Twice each year, children in the Read-Aloud program receive a brand new, high quality book.
• Each book is personally inscribed by their Rolling Reader to encourage the sense of book ownership.
• For many of these children, it is the first book they have been given and can call their own.
• Book ownership encourages children to share stories outside the classroom with their siblings, parents and friends.
Rolling Readers distributes more than 12,000 books each year through the Book Giveaway and other efforts.
